The recommendation to increase intake of
Omega-3 fatty acids may be the most
important health advisory of the 21st century.

Leading national health advisors such as the National Institute of Health now question the wisdom of the "No Fat" or "Low Fat" strategy for optimum health. Many authorities point out that the American public has been misled about fats in their diets. In fact, avoiding fats may have put millions at risk because a lack of certain fats can create a potentially dangerous nutritional imbalance in the body.

Not all fats are bad.
Some are literally "essential" to your health.

The "good fats" found in Omega-3 fish oils - the essential fatty acids - are in truth, essential to your body maintaining its optimum health. Fact is, these fatty acids are called "essential" because the body can not manufacturer them! The only the way the body can take in these vital essential fatty acids is through proper nutrition and supplementation.
Increase Omega-3, decrease Omega-6.
While health experts recommend increasing Omega-3 oils, studies show that an overload of Omega-6 fatty acids creates an unhealthy imbalance in the body: they tend to oxidize, creating cell-damaging free radicals which makes the body susceptible to many diseases and health problems. Omega-6 fatty acids are found in foods prepared with, or cooked in most vegetable oils, butter or margarine, such as fried foods, fast foods, baked goods and most packaged foods.

Because of the imbalance in the typical American diet today, the average ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 has dangerously soared up to 20-to-1! For many, this is a fast track to heart disease and many other illnesses. As a result, health advisors recommend it should be as close to Man's historical 1-to-1 ratio.
